We’re excited to announce our Polymers, Plastics, and Sustainability Workshop as part of the STEM Pathways for Girls Monthly Workshops! This hands-on workshop is perfect for 5th-8th grade students who identify as female, nonbinary, or non-gender-conforming and are eager to explore the fascinating world of polymers and sustainability.

About the Workshop:
Led by Dr. Hannah Dedmon, a Polymer Scientist at Sandia National Laboratories, where she uses advanced computer technologies to uncover how polymers can improve our world.

Students will:
- Discover what polymers are through interactive demos and learn where they occur in nature.
- Grow their own polymer chains from seaweed.
- Extract polymers from strawberries.
- Create plastics from biobased/plant materials.

Students will also discuss the challenges of recycling plastics and explore eco-friendly alternatives to help improve our world!
